As a passionate believer in the power of Education it only seems natural to combine my experience in teaching English and working with young people who face inordinate challenges on a day to day basis with my other Therapy skills. Empowering individuals with hope, knowledge and the right tools to assist them in securing a more positive and enlightened outlook on life is very rewarding. Since 1994 I have been working with children and young adults displaying challenging behaviour, using a variety of strategies and techniques to strengthen resilience and promote positive change. In 2001 I was accepted on to the Fulbright Programme and taught for the year in a State school in Chicago. This opportunity allowed me to extend my understanding of promoting positive behaviour in young people and introduced me to the Restorative Justice programme that focussed on collaborative discussions and healthier mental attitudes towards reconciliation.
Prior to this I worked in the corporate world here and abroad and was introduced to the ideology of mindfulness and directed visualization in the 1970s in Canada. This along with a keen interest in the power of the mind has propelled me in the direction of motivating positive change for all and a desire to assist individuals to rewrite their own stories. The length and breadth of my experience allows me to understand and assist individuals on a one to one basis overcome the obstacles that bar their way in life.
Over the last decade as an employee of Glasgow City Council and as a private Consultant I have prepared and delivered a variety of CPD workshops on Health and Wellbeing priorities to staff. The main focus of this training has been on Solution Oriented Approaches, Stress Management, Understanding the Behaviour of children and Managing Relationships.
